Biography

Kate has extensive experience working with acute, chronic and developmental trauma and has worked in NHS, private and third sector settings as well as in the family court arena. Recognising the impact of trauma as a key factor in risk behaviours, addiction and criminality Kate seeks to empower individuals to make sense of and recognize patterns that contribute to ongoing difficulties in order that change may be possible. Kate has published work on managing self-harm in community settings and trauma informed care and trauma informed service delivery. More recently Kate has worked to produce a relationally informed decision-making system for addiction services and is contributing to a psychological skills framework with University College London. Kate joined YMCA Together as Psychology Partner in 2020 and has supported development of a framework enabling increased psychological provision across homeless and specialist services, including residential addiction services. Offering Cognitive Analytic Therapy in recovery services enabled development of the model to incorporate relational working into traditional recovery approaches.
