Dr. Burçin Ün is an Assistant Professor at Istanbul Kent University, conducting education and research in the fields of addiction sciences, neuropharmacology, toxicology, and forensic biology. He completed his doctoral degree at Çukurova University Institute of Addiction and Forensic Sciences with a thesis examining the role of adenosine receptors in cannabis addiction. She completed her master's degree at the Department of Anatomy at Mersin University with a thesis investigating hippocampal behavioral and epigenetic mechanisms associated with nicotine withdrawal in rats. Dr. Ün completed her undergraduate education at the Department of Biology at Osmaniye Korkut Ata University and also received academic training in Hungary under the Erasmus Program.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Ün has developed a comprehensive research portfolio in multidisciplinary fields such as molecular neuroscience, behavioral pharmacology, toxicology, and developmental teratology. His experimental work primarily investigates the neurobiological mechanisms of addiction, focusing particularly on adenosine A2A and cannabinoid CB1 receptor pathways. He has published articles and reviews on psychopharmacology, teratology, opioid pharmacology, and cannabis-related neurobehavioral mechanisms. In addition to his research activities, he gives seminars and training courses on substance use, addiction prevention, and substance awareness among young people. Continuing his scientific work aimed at elucidating the molecular, behavioral, and pharmacological aspects of addiction mechanisms, Dr. Ün aims to contribute to the development of more effective prevention, intervention, and treatment strategies.
