Biography

He/She is  a researcher and affiliated professor at the Federal University of São Paulo, where he/she coordinate the Brazilian National Survey on Alcohol and Drugs (LENAD), the country's main epidemiological study on substance use. He/she also conducted the only study to date mapping alcohol-outlet density in São Paulo's city centre using Time-Location Sampling to estimate the density of informal vendors; those results have informed advocacy against the proliferation of temporary street-vendor licenses issued during carnival seasons. Since returning to Brazil in 2012, his/her work has focused on translating epidemiological findings into public health and policy impact, and he/she participate actively in governmental technical committees at the federal, state, and municipal levels.
